VIP The bag that Blew Past.

The bag did not even survive its maiden journey: Very neat & light but did not reach the flight!

Least it could have done was to pass the security check...Dubai was still way to go! It broke down at Indira Gandhi International Airport.

In a stroller the champion of the cause is the the moving contraption. The rest of the parafernalia renders the stroller as useful (or useless) as another suitcase. Consider poor me carring a stroller all througout.

V.V. & Sons Dubai: It boasts of bags and is the sole contact point for guarantee for VIP in Dubai.

Yeah, you got it right. They don't repair them-they dont have the parts: and will not replace-They don't have the moolah.

Eventually the electronic medium:Bingo Again! The website of the company doesnot open... Guys, Isn't this the 21st century. Huh

I wrote an email to one of the IDs got a couple of responses: Sindhi/Gujju guy : and the bugger mailed from some hotmail.com of sorts: but again a Lull. I am still waiting for the storm.

Tata AIG Complaint : The Death of a Company

This company is surely dying but this is what I still think about it; inspite of the fact that I have moved on: Yes, moving on surely was both sided: I cannot deny the fact that Nagpur of all places was not so romantic-professionally, I mean. That's what somebody in the company wanted, not the company- as you would know as you read on. Then there was me looking for a job for over a year and having found two was deciding/negotiating in my own way. But that I was not indispsable was also a fact: This was not teh claims department where the market knew me by name-It was good old agency: Retail that is.
This is what sense I made about my company and following are a set of resignations from around my time and later.

What I like about my work place
1. This company cares about its people. As a Tata Company once you are in: You are family.
2. Also, the philosophy of the company is that ordinary people can perform extraordinary tasks when empowered and trained. 3. Training was top priority with the minimum benchmark being 5 training days per employee per year. Each month a training calender was circulated pan India and any one could attend the host of trainings developed by HR. HR was open to tailor make trainings if required.
4. Another aspect was that every one was accessible. Even afetr I left I needed explanation about my dues: I mailed and was mailed back- same day.
5. After I left for the Gulf, my dues came in without coercion.
6. The attitude of the top management was open and I could mail my MD also. Everyone was on a first name basis as is regular in US based companies(This is not the case with most of the other insurers).
7. Very strong branding: Self Explanatory
8. The company wanted employees to grow along with. So many people got oppurtuniotes to move abroad within the company. 9. Very strong internatinal partner in AIG as the world's biggest financial services provider
10. Flexibility: I was given the oppurtunity for a complete lateral shift to an unrelated department even while I had differences of opinion with my immediate supervisor.
11. Care: When I was leaving, VP HR called me from Mumbai to ask how I was feeling. All good things come to an end, but you relise their importance when you leave. It is not out nof place to state here that the top management philosophy drives a company and is reflected at the grass root level

What I didn't like about my work place
1. Very slow decision making 2. Due to excessive mutual confidence, many people/departments took their positions for granted 3. Some wrong people in the right places were driving their own lobby 4. Not very responsive to teh changing market trends 5. Lack of flexibility as per policies and compliance issues---------- Forwarded message ----------From: "Kumar, Gulshan" To: Date: Mon, 30 Jun 2008 20:48:02 +0800Subject: Bye-bye

Dear Friends,

It's with both regret and anticipation, that I say goodbye.
After serving four years I have realized how difficult it is to part ways with every one who have been more then just colleagues to me.

I would like to thank all my superiors for their advise and co-operation that has groomed me to be a better professional, more so a better human being. All my colleagues proved the point that only true friends stand by you in your bad times. I could always count on them in times of despair and glory.

Delhi Team (My First home)-
It has been a great experience working with the Delhi Agency Team. There were ups and downs while building the team block by block but at last we were the winners. It was a great feeling to be associated with all of you. I thank all of you for being a part of my life.
Harbi (My Mentor)-
I take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to Harbi for all the unconditional support I got from him without which, I would not have been able to develop myself as a better insurance professional and a better human being.
Krishnan and Neel (My Gurus)-
You both have added value not just in tons of iron but carrots of gold to me.
As I take on a new responsibility, I wish you a healthy & prosperous time ahead.

Dear All

This column has endeavored over the past one year brought to you news updates disguised as campaign updates and vice versa. This column has followed Kimi Raikkonen’s F1 victory last year via the Chak De IPA campaign; the stock market boom via the IPO campaign and Man U’s double victory through the Bangkok Auto campaign. Its time for the columnist to turn over a new leaf/page and this time he falls short of words.

Friends, today happens to be my last day with TATA AIG and I thank all of you for support and feedback extended. Handling Giant Steps program has been a privilege for me and I wish to thank Harbi for the same; Ramesh for excellent inputs; Ritesh for an RPU perspective and City Agency Managers for prompt feedback. I would like to stay in touch and am thus enclosing my co-ordinates below.
